As the Chair of the Zoning Committee and a member of the Public Safety Committee, Keisha Bottoms’ leadership has changed the landscape of Southwest Atlanta. Citizens demanded the demolition of Allison Court Apartments,an abandoned property long considered an eyesore in the community. Councilmember Bottoms delivered, writing and co-sponsoring legislation for the demolition of the property and developing safer spaces for Southwest Atlanta.
Southwest Atlanta Beltline Connector Trail was officially opened in January 2013. The 4.5-mile trail runs along the Eastside, the West End, and the Northside trails. The Southwest portion in District 11 will bring the total permanent trails to almost seven miles throughout the Metro Atlanta Perimeter.
